Obviously I had a bout of real life again, and so I have many snowflake posts to catch up on. Fortunately there are no dates assigned to it, so I will be getting to them as I get time.

With that in mind, let's see where I was....Ah!

Day 6

In your own space, create your own challenge. What’s something you want to see more people doing in fandom? Is there something you’ve tried that you think other people would enjoy if they gave it a go? Dare your friends to try it out, and have fun with it.

The problem for me is that this one specifies 'fandom' as the challenge space, and for me, I don't know of a thing that I am not getting enough of in fandom.  I have more vids than I can watch, more stories than I can read, more pictures and interesting facts than I can really spend the time to enjoy.  Y'all are massively creative and darn motivated, which is why I love fandom so.

Hey!  There's an idea for a challenge: find me more fannish time!  What can I ditch from my life that will give me time to read and enjoy stories and vids and episodes and conversations? Can't be my husband, the cats, the kid or my job, but everything else is a go.  For example, should I invest time in the KonMari method of tidying my house to gain more time to read?  Inquiring minds want to know!

Day 4

In your own space, create a fanwork. Make a drabble, a ficlet, a podfic, or an icon, art or meta or a rec list. Arts and crafts. Draft a critical essay about a particular media. Put together a picspam or a fanmix. Write a review of a Broadway show, a movie, a concert, a poetry reading, a museum trip, a you-should-be-listening-to-this-band essay. Compose some limericks, haikus, free-form poetry, 5-word stories. Document a particular bit of real person canon. Take some pictures. Draw a stick-figure comic. Create something.

Day 03

In your own space, post a rec for at least three fanworks that you have created. It can be your favorite fanworks that you've created, or fanworks you feel no one ever saw, or fanworks you say would define you as a creator.

Okay, cool! I am going to use this as an opportunity to point out some of the stories in my backlog, as I finally have most of them posted on A03. There are still a few SGA stories (less than a dozen!) still sitting in drafts, so I will work around those.

1. So this is my favorite of my alternate universe romances, complete with a steampunk-flavored arranged marriage for political purposes. I just got it posted on A03 too!

Day 2

In your own space, create a list of at least three fannish things you'd love to receive, something you've wanted but were afraid to ask for - a fannish wish-list of sorts.

Sure!  Why not.

1) My icons are aging, just like their owner. :)  I would love an icon with Miss Fisher looking fabulous, ladies wearing menswear, something in the JediStormPilot line, or people reading.  (I love icons with books in them.)  Freshen it up as it were.

2) What is the most recent fanfic story under 20K words that you'd recommend?

3) What is your favorite non-fiction book at the moment?  I enjoyed both Flash Boys and the Big Short last year, so I am looking for something with a solid narrative thread, but I'm thinking about branching out from financial disasters.  Other disasters might be good for me too. :)

Day 01

In your own space, talk about why you are doing the Fandom Snowflake Challenge? What drew you to it as a participant? What do you hope to accomplish by doing these challenges?

I'm doing the challenge this year because I like the structure of a daily challenge, and I want to be more an active participant in fandom.  With the stress of the past year (Moving Dad to assisted care, his being hospitalized three times, the issues with work, and building the ADU) I am feeling fragile.  Fandom can be my happy place if I work at it, so I'm hoping that this set of challenges will help me do that!
