Writerly Angst per usual
Mar. 11th, 2008 11:17 amI've signed up for far to many ficathons, as is my wont, and now I need to just knuckle down and get some of this done. things I am thinking about are:
1) making a 500-word-a-day goal
2) dedicating this afternoon to working on my sweet charity story
3) making a decision today on which story I will remix (I have drafted out ideas for remixes on 2 different stories by my author, each in a different fandom. One allows me more flexibility, and One is more traditional but with a greater potential for angst. So it's like pain vs. world building and that is a sucky choice for me. Seriously, my normal response is: why choose?)
4) I have another rec due for
stargateficrec, so I need to write that up. I'm thinking tomorrow maybe for that.
5) Writing out my one sentence summary for my (potential)
sgabigbang novel. I'm thinking putting up a filter for the novel writing, once I have more than a sentence on what I plan to do, so that should be up for sign-up in the next week. When I signed up for the challenge, I was thinking I'd do a steampunk AU of the discovery of Atlantis, with Elizabeth in charge of the expedition, John the adventurer pulled out of the opium den, Rodney the inventor surrounded by all of his brass-and-silver creations --only I got it wrong, and full AU/ARs aren't a part of the prompt. So I have to figure something else out, and I need to get on that today.
Maybe something with prisons....
So, anyway, yes! Hi! I'm back from Escapade. Had a blast, as usual. The only real problem for me was I started the con with con crud, and that's still lingering around. I probably won't get to a con report as I have so much other writing to do, plus I have to get back to the cycling training stuff as well. Still: Cons! Fun!

Also, I may have some questions about biking for beginners in this area, if you've got time.

Date: 2008-03-12 01:01 am (UTC)However, I have realised that I can have my cake and eat it too - I can have the 'real' SGA team visit the au world that I was constructing and I think it actually solves some of the plot points I was pondering. Is it possible you could do the same?
Funnily enough, I'm also techno-inspired - not with steampunk, but certainly by William Gibson's work in terms of envisioning this alternate world.
