What I did before my Labor Day break

I spent the last couple of days with z_rayne, and her family, which was a blast.  I really don't get out that often, so it was nice to just go over to a friend's house and hang.  I finished watching all of season One Supernatural. I'm enjoying it, but it doesn't grab me at the gut-level; however, I am loving all the character development.  Sam is the definition of Emo, while Dean is absolutely an Angst Queen, and there is just no bad in that.  I figure I will learn to love them.

The best thing though was that when I got home, my son said he had some glow-in-the-dark thing that he wanted to show me, so he hauled me into the downstairs half-bath--and my son and husband had changed it while I was out.  The walls are a dark orchid shade, the hardware (towel rack and handles on the cabinets, etc) are all silver instead of a gold, and the overhead light fixture swapped out for something nicer, instead of the old tin-can type that used to be there.  It's gorgeous, and if I could find my camera, I'd take some photos to show you what it looks like.  It was an incredible surprise.

Oh, and before I headed over to Zoe's, the family and I went out on a bike ride together.  We managed 4 miles at a slow pace, but we had wanted to do a ride together this summer, and we did it.  My husband is calling this the summer where we said we wanted to do something, and then actually did it.  We're not normally consistent about this stuff.

This afternoon, I am helping  a friend clean out a basement, so I'm probably not getting to anything fannish today.  I'm angsting about not yet having a rec for stargateficrecs, not working on my story edits for the past week, and the fact that my writing sucks, which, hopefully, I will get over after I finish moving a ton of boxes.

I'm noticing that now that I'm not exercising regularly, the way I was for the STP, I fall into more blue moods. I think I am going to have to get on my case about working out regularly, to help deal with my fall/winter blahs.
