Dear 2006 Yuletide Santa Person
Nov. 3rd, 2006 07:01 amI never know how much or how little information to put into these things. I'll run down each specific fandom in a moment, but first let me get some more general stuff out of the way.
Story length: I like short stories as well as the occasional epic, so don't worry about the story being 'too short' for me; whatever length it takes for you to tell the story you want to tell is exactly fine with me.
Story focus: I love character-driven stories, description, clever dialog and fast pacing. I love world-building, whether it's an AU or a canon-based story. Simple little 'day in the life' stories thrill me, along with ones with multiple layers of plot. But as there's a limited amount of time before the deadline, I don't want you to stress about writing me a big, action plot driven story with huge world-building and tons of description--unless you want to and it makes you happy. I'm happy whatever way you want to go.
Genres: I'm more of a slash-or-friendship fan, and I love angst. But because this is yuletide, I'd prefer a happy ending if at all possible. If the story just won't go that route, that's good too.
Prompts: Sometimes I'm really desperate for story ideas, and love to have a few words to help spark my imagination. So, generically I'm giving you "nightmare, babble, abstract" in case you want something to get you going.
Anne Bishop - Black Jewels series
I chose Wilhelmina Benedict as the only character for the story, but feel free to add others. My interest in her is a sort-of future fic, because the world is just so rich with Male/Female polarization, and yet it's clear that Wilhelmina is so damaged by her experiences that I'm not sure she could ever go there. Plus she's not an all-powerful Queen, so I have no idea what her options would be like. At the back of my mind, I think femslash for her, but I don't know how that would work in this universe. I would love to see it, though.
Eureka (tv) Allison Blake/Henry Deacon/Jack Carter
Henry and Jack have a great relationship, and I love the world of Eureka. I think Allison is a big part of Jack's life, so I want to see a little of her, but it can be more friendship-y than threesome-y, unless you feel you can make the Allison/Henry thing work -- in which case, threesome, yay! However you can work it is good for me, and don't feel you have to limit the story to only these characters unless you want to. But please don't have Nathan Stark as a main focus of the story. I really don't like his character.
Jurassic Park movies
I chose Alan Grant/Billy Brennan because I really love this pairing. You can leave them on the dig, or take them out into town, or have them show up as consultants on something someplace else, and I'll be happy. I just want them to suffer a little emotionally and then get to a happy ending.
Zoolander
I chose Derek Zoolander/Hansel this time as I cannot pass yuletide by without requesting something from one of Owen Wilson's movies. *g* I'm afraid that this year's request was heavily influenced by "The Amazing Race", which has a pair of male models in it for this go round. And each time I seem them, in my brain, I go to "Zoolander and Hansel" as contestants on the show, and how silly that would be. It also slides over to the whole "Americas Next Top Model" thing which had Fabio as a guest. So it makes me wonder about Zoolander running his own reality show, an AU with him being on "Americas Next Top Male Model", maybe hosted by Fabio, and competing with Hansel. These are all very silly thoughts, so don't stress over using any of them. Just go out and have fun writing it, and whatever you do will be good for me.
