Hiya! I have finished the longer story that I was reading on the kindle, the Black Helicopters series. The only thing I have read this year other than that was Seperis's Star Trek stuff, fiercelydream's white collar/leverage crossover, and a couple of iron man stories. So, can you recommend to me a longer story (I like longer stories for the kindle right now) that was published between November 2009 and Today? I guess I could search delicious, but I am being very lazy today.

Advanced Search

The Ebook Library has a lot of LONG stories. :) I wasn't sure which fandom you'd be interested in so I just sent you the search box. You can search 50k-100k, 100k-200k, 200k-500k, and 500k and up.

I'm slowly but surely trying to get epub and mobipocket versions for these stories but I'm pretty much the only one working on the site so it's slow going. If you'd like to me to convert something that's not already in mobipocket drop me a line and I'll bump it up to the top of the queue.

Avengers, Steve/Tony:
Sea Stars (part 1), Sea Stars (part 2) by [personal profile] muccamukk. PG-13, 42,000 words, published in July, 2009. "Notes: The following story is the vaguely stoner offspring of comics from the '70s and Harlequin Presents romance novels... yeah, I don't know either. It follows 616 canon up to Invincible Iron Man #09, then goes fantastically AU."

Constructs in Progress by [personal profile] muccamukk. AU, mature themes, het/poly/slash, 30,000 words, published in May 2010.

Heart of Steel (part 1 of 18 so far) by [personal profile] muccamukk. AU, PG-13, crack-sweet-crack. This isn't finished yet, but the first 18 parts are really good (and fingers crossed she updates again soon!).

White Collar, Neal/Peter/Elizabeth:
The Reasonable Doubt 'verse by china_shop. Explicit, 45,782 words. "First time set in the first half of season 1. Originally posted in 19 parts to livejournal."

Contractual Obligations: A Love Story in Three Traffic Lights by shaenie. Explicit, 40,025 words. "The way Neal says it, though, amused and dismissive, is almost insulting. Of course Peter would never do such a thing, Neal's tone implies. Absurd notion."

Ditto on all of these.

Also, there's a new, awesome Leverage/Iron Man crossover on the AO3: Nerds of the Earth, take note! by Betty and Emeraldwoman. Hardison POV.

And there's always her original magnum opus, Reasonable Doubt.

I don't have a kindle. May I ask, what does it take to "kindlize" something? Is there a better format than others for the process? Would you prefer a link to the story at AO3, or does it matter?

The Reasonable Doubt 'verse is up at AO3, but it doesn't look like she's put Undercover there yet.

I'm not sure if you ever read my novel-length The Fast and the Furious story, but you might enjoy it -- though it is from before 2009. It's at my site in the F&F category. I was actually thinking of you the other day and remembering when we took you to see Pitch Black. Nostalgia!

I was thinking fanfic, but I'll take some pro recs too. I have zoomed my way through the rest of the black jewels series, the hunger game, and Moon Called (Mercy thompson book 1). I have not read this many books in such a short time in quite a while. I'm loving it, and am happy I went back to work so I could support my ebook habit.

You might try a novel called Amazon Ink. I'd give you the author but Dragon's reading it in the other room. I enjoyed it and I'm looking forward to more in the series.

Do you read rpf? pinto, specifically, because if so, A Passage That Sings (http://dorkorific.livejournal.com/77392.html) by [livejournal.com profile] dorkorific, which I just read recently even though I don't read in that fandom, lol, is fanastic.

I also highly recommend Apples are not the Only Fruit (http://www.waxjism.org/bex/ai01_apples.html) by [livejournal.com profile] bexless in my current fandom, adam/kris... I have a ton of other recs in this fandom, but in addition to being amazing, I think as an au, this fic is really accessible to anyone.:)

I would love a few more adam/kris recs, but I'm still dancing around the fandom and prefer the AU stuff, so this one sounds good to me--I'll give the pinto story a try too. *g*

Wow, I am impressed with how quickly people have come up with stuff.

Ooooh, I didn't realize you were even ~dancing around the edges of this fandom! That is so awesome!!

Well in that case.... ahahaha... here are my adam/kris bookmarked fics: http://delicious.com/CathalinS/adam/kris My au tag is not very reliable, I'm afraid, in the sense that if I indicated it as au, then of course it is, but I think I often forget to tag things au that are? And the length of story isn't indicated, either. I know you're looking for longer things... have you read Jerakeen's More Myself With You? (not really au). And omg have you read Winterlive's post apoc au?! Oh my gosh, and have you read Astolat's "zombie" fic? Not actually zombies, incredibly good.

By the way, there are also a few fantastic adam/someone else stories, which I also have bookmarked by their own tags.

I've read the Zombie AU but not the others, so looks like I have some fun stuff to read. Thanks!

Books: [livejournal.com profile] seanan_mcguire's October Daye series, urban fantasy with a noir twist that's really wonderful.

Fic: Orbits, Drift (http://archiveofourown.org/works/12469) by Annie D (Live Free or Die Hard) and Asunder (http://archiveofourown.org/works/62115) by [livejournal.com profile] rageprufrock (SPN, Dean/Castiel). Both are AO3 links; the stories are long leisurely reads, just the right kinds of things for lazy summer days...

Oh, awesome! I love live free or die hard, and have read several stories in the fandom but not that one. And I've never made inroads into any of the SPN stuff except for a few stories sandy passed me links for, so that's awesome. I'll take a look at the books, too. thanks!

I don't care for the wincest in SPN but I'm currently tracking down & reading as much Dean/Castiel as I can get my hands on. It's a fandom that seems to run heavily to AUs, which is fun...

Mistakes of Our Youth (http://candle-beck.livejournal.com/142702.html?format=light) by Candle Beck (Sherlock Holmes) - this one RIPPED MY HEART OUT, so here's one of her happy endings for afterward: This Day To the Ending of the World (http://candle-beck.livejournal.com/138811.html)

Walked Right Out of the Machinery (http://www.kekkai.org/rydra_wong/out_of_the_machinery.html) by Rydra Wong (SG-1) - gen, but brilliant and so worth reading!

Are you looking for any specific fandoms?

It's kind of cracky *g* but it's trinityofone so go read If On a Winter's Night a Fangirl (http://community.livejournal.com/deancastiel/1729208.html)

For a longer Dean/Castiel fic try Alchemy Alice's Dies Irae (http://alchemyalice.livejournal.com/5255.html)

Have procrastinated long enough and must go work on cleaning the garage. Or lunch. Yeah, lunch.
