Vid Site Retirement

I've decided not to renew Sandy and my vid site this year.  I have downloaded what exists on the site and will try to upload it to the internet archive.  Most of what we have is already in that collection, but there are some SGA, HL and misc  fandoms that aren't yet uploaded.  I'll post a link once I finish with the ones that are in a format that can be uploaded, and have the vids available through A03.

In the meantime, the site will be going down once my cancellation goes through. 

ETA: The domain will be the first thing to go, and it will expire mid-to-late August. So plenty of time for anyone to download stuff that they want if I don't get things uploaded to the IA in a timely fashion.

It is a kind of closure for me. I never updated the site after Sandy passed, and moving the vids to internet archive will preserve them for anyone that wants to view our stuff from the 1990s and early 00s.

In June I lost my hard drive with all the fan vids I'd archived since uh....the 90s.

I've been skulking around the web trying to relocate and find the ones I adored and so many are gone. Just couldn't bear the thought of losing more vids that I've loved. I swear I have zero nefarious intentions - I just want to hang on to stuff that makes me happy - I need those small bites of joy more than ever these days!

No worries! I grabbed it all today myself, as it's the only way I will be able to upload them to the internet archive. Keep them and enjoy them!

It was time. Sandy passed away in 2011, and I have made no updates to the site since then. Moving the vids to the internet archive will preserve them, and I won't have the weight of memory associated with it the way I do the website.

Yeah, agreed. Not the same situation of course, but I recently cancelled my own webspace as well...I didn't use it for anything anymore, I didn't update it, and AO3 is a better place to upload stories. Change is strange.
