Yuletide Bounty.
Dec. 30th, 2018 12:42 pmWow. Just...wow. I got four stories this year in three different fandoms, and I am amazed and excited that people wanted to write from my prompts! Things have been so busy around here, this is the first time I've been able to mention them, but I sandwiched reading them all in the first day!
After the Adventure (1680 words)
Fandom: Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle (2017)
Things that I liked best about it: It's a gen high school friendship story, about Bethany reaching out to Martha and getting her to join in on doing something with other people. I liked seeing Bethany still taking care of her Jumanjii friends.
Carved Our Love in the Mountainside (1738 words)
Fandom: Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle (2017)
Things that I liked best about it: Friends-to-lovers is one of my favorite tropes, and this is really well done. I loved seeing how Jumanjii changed both Bethany and Martha, and how that impacted their future. Plus the relationship! I have little anime stars in my eyes over it.
a risk worth taking (3958 words)
Fandom: Mercy Thompson Series - Patricia Briggs
Things that I liked best about it: It's really two stories in one, a "what happens next" story set after the events in "Frost Burned", and deep back story between Warren and Asil set in WWII. I loved the subtext that meeting gave to the "Frost Burned" events. Lots of "in universe" knowledge required.
Need to Know (2249 words)
Fandom: The Murderbot Diaries - Martha Wells
Things that I liked best about it: It's all about ART, its creation, its attitude, and where the asteroid deflector comes from. Love that military - university connection. Kinda thinky too.
