Mar. 4th, 2008 08:05 pmSo in my son's history of rock and roll class, they are doing a unit on the Talking Heads, and while "Once in a Lifetime" is the song he is supposed to be writing a paragraph on, he was having a hard time with emotionally connecting to it.
This cannot be! says I. So we discuss the song and I provide him with the analogy of how he feels when he is playing his videogame and looks up to suddenly realize that *gasp* he's somewhere completely different from where he thought he was.
That seemed to be the key, and he was able to write the paragraph. After, I made him watch Lifetime Piling Up, which he really loved. "I didn't understand the song, mom, but all of the Rodneys matched."
