Today was a marvelous day for a bike ride. Sunny and cool, and not too much traffic on the trail, until I got to the U of W. (There was a Huskies game starting, and a huge number of people were using the trail to get to the stadium.) When I got up this morning, I thought about joining the once-a-month 'biking and breweries' ride, but today's trip was scheduled for Everett, and getting there would have required a 45 minute drive, and I just wasn't up for it.
So instead, we did our own. I'd do 25-30 miles on the trail, which is the usual ride length for one of the brewery rides, and Lar would meet me at Redhook for lunch. Well...you know how things go. Once I got started and worked my way past the 'oh. my. god. get me off this thing now' part, it all just clicked together and I just didn't want to stop. So I rode all the way to Gasworks at the end of the trail, and then rode back to the brewery, getting there a bit later than I'd told Lar I'd be; we ended up having lunch around 3pm. Maybe it was a little foolish of me to do a long ride like this when I haven't done much in the past month, but it felt great to get out and go. I've got a few little aches, but I've iced them, and nothing feels all that terrible; I can feel that I pushed myself more than I have been doing lately. But the waterfront views were totally worth it.
