Man, I know it's a little bit of a stretch, but I figured that as I didn't make it to Escapade this year, I'd spend some of that mythical budget money on dreamwidth.
I would pay twice the amount they are charging for a seed account for the sheer convenience of it, but I had meetings all day yesterday and most of today so I missed it. I am very salty with DW about this. I don't understand why the number has to be limited. Why not put the accounts on sale from April 30 and May and allow people to log on any time and get one? I don't get it.
It's because the seed accounts aren't very good for the site as a whole, as it gives them one-time money and they need an on-going stream of cash. So they put them up when they need a lump of money, which is why they limited it at launch. Fear not, though! They are doing another sale in a week.
There was sort of a typo in my post or it was just written poorly. I understand why they don't want everyone to have a permanent account. I am just wondering why they can't sell an unlimited number of accounts for 24 hours instead of forcing people to rearrange schedules and rush to be online. I doubt the number sold would change substantially.
Hopefully I will get one next week or I will stick with the free account since I hate paying annually.
