Stuff about me
May. 24th, 2011 09:26 pmIn the time I was computerless, I got a new job. I'm a perm employee now, working as a senior systems analyst and data modeler. It's fun! I'd forgotten what development was like when you're on a roll. Stepping down a grade in responsibility is going to be good for me, I can tell.
The company itself has a small company vibe, and is oddly athletic. They had bought a sponsorship booth for the "beat the bridge" run and were promoting it the day I arrived. They also were signing up employees for the "Global Corporate Challange" (http://gettheworldmoving.com/) to have 7 person teams in their company (virtually) walk around the world over the summer. I'm on a random team with several people from payroll, since I'm a joiner, and I'm averaging about the 10K steps a day they suggest as a goal, so go me! Part of that is that I am biking again, and I just finished up the 25 mile tour de cure this past weekend. First time in two years that I have had the energy to cycle that far, and I felt terribly proud of myself when I was through. That was a good change for me, too.
My weight is up, however, which depresses me. I'm thinking of joining weight watchers again because...my new company has weight watchers at work on Tuesdays at noon, and a new session starts right after memorial day. Plus they'll pick up the fee if I join. So, again, yeah. I'm thinking it would be a good thing.
