I am very out of practice at writing posts! I've pulled out of the morass of bleakness that was my life at the end of Feb/first part of the month, but I have no idea how to get myself conversing again. I did do some work on my steampunk SGA novel for fic finishing, but I'm finding I have less time than I thought I would.

Maybe I am watching too much tv.

Cop shows are my life right now. I am watching NCIS and the Mentalist, plus I have some of Castle taped; it's all investigation, all the time at the moment, which is really weird after years of feasting on fantasy and SF. I have kings on the hard drive too, which is close cousins with alternate history, so I'm counting it in the speculative fiction set--which is the only speculative fiction I'm watching. I bailed on Dollhouse, and I still haven't watched more than the first episode of Merlin; I figure I'll watch it once it starts airing here this summer. A whole year of the fandom will have passed by me, and the 'classics' of the fandom will be set in stone....and I think my brain is now all tangled up in sword-in-the-stone imagery, so I'd best be moving on.

Cop shows. Who knew?

Well, the Mentalist does have Tim Kang and his arms, so therefore is very high quality teevee.

(I might be a little shallow?)

I've now got "You're Gonna Go Far, Kid" stuck in my head.

Again.

Thanks *so* much. :-)

I love him. *love* him. I love his dry delivery, his 'Joe Friday' attitude, just everything about him. Plus he's gorgeous, as you said. I love the chemistry of the whole team, but I toy with Kimball Cho/Patrick Jane slash.

Glad I could help. ;)

I know! I mean I was totally expecting Jane to be far and away my favourite character, but Cho is just so awesome.

If you're grooving on cop shows, have you tried Patrick Swayze's The Beast? Veteran undercover FBI agent mentoring rookie partner...

Thank god I am not the only one!

My brain apparently lives just down the street from you brain.

Cop shows have recently taken over my TV life as well. Down on this corner, we've got NCIS, CSI:NY, and the Closer, but the much-beloved Tivo also holds: Cold Case, Without a Trace, and Chuck, all of whom moved in in the last couple months or so. I have succumbed to the lure of Merlin, though. Enjoyable, but I got a very...."Saturday-morning-Land-of-the-Lost" vibe from it. Not sure what demographic NBC was thinking of when it bought it...

I'm enjoying Castle more than I expected to. The initial promos did not appeal, but I checked it out for Nathan.

I love both NCIS and the Mentalist. But I haven't even heard of Castle. I actually watch very little in real time. I download and watch since the last 6-8 months of my life sounds like yours, as in doing that hamster dance. *g*
