sherrold started an entry for the Slashfic Hall of Shame. It's rough, yes, but what's cool is the link to the wayback machine's copy of the site, including the rants, the link to the 'feedback' and an example story critique. I lost...a bit of time reading through it all (yes, all) and it was a hoot.

Meanwhile, the guys are here to deliver the new couch. Just in time for the VP debates tonight.

I had completely forgotten about that! I think because I never discussed it with anyone else, it was just something I checked out once in a while. Wow, how different it feels right now with LJ, this feels generations old.

Ten years later, and it's a completely different era. Same old arguments, but back then, it felt more personal.

Wow, I remember watching that site all the time for updates. 1997, really? How fandom has... not changed all that much, really.

It was amazing. Everyone wanted to see what would happen next. It was sort of the spiritual foremother of fandom wank.
