Dear Yuletide Writer,
I am terribly consistent and have cribbed a lot from former letters. I love characters and world building, whether that world is a neighborhood just down the street or one hundreds of light years or centuries away. Make yourself happy and that'll make me happy too.
If you want more detail, I like to see what makes people tick, and I’m also a slash fan, so character-driven stories make me particularly happy. Friendship stories make me just as happy as explicit slash stories, so don't stress writing anything that makes you uncomfortable.
As far as the world building goes, it doesn't matter to me if that world is strongly series-related, science fiction, horror, or a complete fantasy. You can bring other characters into a story beyond the ones that I’ve chosen, and you can create your own characters if you like; you can also limit it to just the ones I’ve picked. Any way you want to work it, I’m good.
Story tropes that I like include: First times, teasing, banter, dark pasts, found families, self-realization, wistful regret, pining, old hurts, second chances, dreams, romance without schmoop, adventure, ass kicking, angst, exotic settings, outsider POV, wacky undercover situations, steampunk, horror, other worlds, whumpage, hurt/comfort, themes about trust and love.
I do have some dislikes: heavy illness (cancer, AIDS, etc), pregnancy, public humiliation/embarrassment, death and permanent disability. I'm not keen on first person POV or all dialog stories, though I am fine with a story narrated by an original character or one that features original characters alongside the people I’ve selected as the main focus.
Heck, you don’t have to limit yourself to a human character if there’s something else that inspires you. (This might be particularly useful with the Adventure Time prompt.)
As far as the sex goes, I'm happy with fade to black or explicitly, luxuriously hot, and If you’re into kink, D/s is my favorite, so hot sex and power games are right up my alley. Though I’d prefer noncon be limited to mentions and not illustrated on-screen. Otherwise, whatever your comfort level, I'm fine with it. Just enjoy writing it, and I'm sure I'll love reading it.
Adventure Time
More adventure time for Fionna and Cake! I loved Fionna and would love to see more of the world that she lives in. You could also go meta with it, since its canonical that the ice king wrote fan fic and there was the implied mary sue aspect to what he'd written, but I'm open to anything.
I'd also be open to fusions with this, so you could bring in SGA or My Little Pony: Friendship is magic if you want or any other of my older fandoms.
Captain America (2011)
You can have anyone else on the list that you'd like--Tony Stark is a possible too -- but my primary focus is Steve Rogers. I'd love to see what happens to movie Steve now that he is in modern day America. I know that's going to be covered in the Avengers movie, but I'd like to see more of his day to day life.
If you decide to go for the past, I'd love to see some more interaction with Bucky or see Captain America look up anyone from his old team. I loved the look and feel of the movie, and thought Steve was incredibly sweet, and want to see more of that. Finding him a family after his been displaced would be particularly cool.
Singing in the Rain (1952)
Cosmo, Don, and Cathy have been my favorite threesome since I was a kid. I love their energy and their relationship, and I would love to see more of the three of them together. Some happy domesticity and a dash of angst would be terrific.
I'm terrible! I'm kinda stumped on this one myself. I'd love to see Cosmos' perspective on their lives, and maybe some future bit where Cathy and Don start talking kids. I know it's terribly domestic, but I'm all nostalgic over this guys.
Haven
Nathan, Audrey, and Duke -- Another threesome that I adore, only this is one that I am very anxious about and I don't know how they will get their relationship together. I'm not sure what is happening with Duke and would love to have a story where their friendship (and maybe moreship) is put back together. It could either follow season 2, or be a vignette or au from the series at that point; it's all good to me!
You can do anything you want with the Haven story, and several of my favorite themes fit. Let yourself go and just enjoy what comes out.
All of the details are options, and I’m happy to leave specifics up to you. Like I said, I love these characters and I'll love whatever you choose to write in any of these fandoms. I'm really looking forward to it!
