Where: Redmond along West Lake Sammamish, uphill to Bellevue Eastgate, down to Mercer Slough, Bellevue, Clyde Hill, and eventually, Kirkland's Marina Park
Start Time: 9.30
How long: 3.25 hrs by watch, 2.4 hrs on-bike time. (a little less than 10mph not including stops)
Heart Rate: 124 avg, 148 peak
Total Calories: 2550
I wanted to get in a ride before I headed off to Oregon for my Aunt's funeral. I hoped to do closer to 36 miles, but I was slower than I expected. I missed my gear shift going uphill a couple of times bad enough that the chain came off, and I had to stop and put it on again. There was also construction that made me alter my route a bit, and I had to keep stopping to check on the map. Plus the route I took used a couple of pedestrian paths-- one a narrow winding uphill route where they recommending walking the bike, and in another spot, I used the ped overpass to cross the freeway. Ick. Urban routes take more time, too, from having to wait at lights to cross. When I get back, I think I might do a small ride on my beloved, flat, sammamish river trail.
