Dear Yuletide Santa, 2008 edition
Nov. 11th, 2008 12:24 pmFirst of all, thank you so much for signing up to write for
yuletide! I'd be happy with a story in any of the fandoms I listed, and I'm excited that you volunteered to write it. I love character-driven, relationship-focused stories, be it sexual or friendship-related, and I really like a little worldbuilding, but epics are not required. I hope I gave you enough details in my original sign-up. In case I didn't:
What I'd like the most is a story that your proud of, that shows off the characters and what they are like. Dialogue, pacing and character-interaction make me happy; Death, terminal illness or permanent injury do not. I prefer no het unless it leads to or is part of a threesome, but slash and femslash only works for me. Level of explicitness is up to you. You can dig as deep into the angst pit as you want, or go for all out emoporn if you like; my one caveat is that I really want a happy ending.
Oh, and a little humor and a little Hurt/comfort is never out of place for me. Just no public humiliation and embarrassment, as that's a big squick. Infidelity is also a big negative button for me, which is why Stephen in Primeval and his seduction by Helen and betrayal of Nick is such a huge attraction. Helen is quite evil in my world. She is utterly mad.
Stylistically, I'm really not into all-dialogue stories, but I can be sold on non-traditional POVs, including original characters. Other likes: First times, banter, teasing, light humor, found families, hurt/comfort, self-realization, self-reliance, wistful regret, pining, old hurts, second chances, dreams, romance without schmoop, adventure, ass kicking, competency, angst, exotic settings, wacky undercover situations, themes about trust and love.
Burn Notice is the only fandom that I am comfortable with kink being written in, if that's your thing. I think Michael, Fiona and Sam are all pretty adaptable when wanted or required. If you were up for it, a case story would be great, and as long as there was banter and friendship between them, with kink or without, I would be fine.
I think I covered my other three fandoms--The Middleman, Primeval (tv), and The Secret Adventures of Jules Verne--pretty well with my original requests. I'd like to keep SAJV closer to canon, and if you are doing the Middleman, I'd be up for revisiting one of their Alternate Universes or swapping timelines somehow if you felt like it. I already gave some caveats for Primeval, so I think we're good there too.
I think that's it for this year! I hope you have a good time writing, and I look forward to reading your story.
