So. Vividcon

Like a lot of people, I can't believe that I am leaving for the con on thursday. I got a dress today, so I should be set for VVC; it's not that fancy, but it moves nicely, so I'm happy with it. They opened a ross dress-for-less right down the hill from me a couple of weeks ago, and this was my first chance to try it. We now have a complete downscale mall there, with the ross, the designer shoe house, some beauty emporium that opens tomorrow, and lane bryant across the parking lot from them all. It's all walking distance, but going home would be...uphill. But I got it done, so go me. I figure just getting to the con is a type of victory. Go me!

(Note: I am anticipating problems on the airline front, as Sandy made the reservations. I have no idea what kind of crap will happen as her tickets were refunded, but we were under the same itinerary. I should be okay, but...it's travel.)

So yeah. I'm avoidant and I kind of suck at responding if anyone emails me. I've combined this with dental hell this year (emergency root canal last Thursday) and anticipatory cancer check up hell (I get my next annual slate of tests on Aug. 19th) with Sandy's birthday (Aug 9th - she would have been 51) and my own (Aug 10th -- the day the crown gets resealed after the root canal work). I'm a little stressed. I think I'm going to go back to reading for a bit.

You've been in my thoughts. I noticed that Sandy's birthday and your birthday were both almost upon us -- I can imagine those will be hard this year, as will the con -- though I hope there's also comfort in seeing friends and loved ones, and in celebrating snady's memory there. I wish I could join you. Good luck with the travel (oy) -- I send love your way.

I'm wishing I were going to VVC just to see you, but. I hope the root canal went ok. I'm re-reading old UNCLE and it makes me think of you. I haven't started on Lois Balzer's yet, because I found some good stuff online (although, not enough old classics)... let me know if you want any of it.
