Today we blazed a trail from Capital Hill to the first rest stop of the STP. Last year, we'd joined the regular route at around the I-90 overlook, at the site of the first crash we saw that day. By the time we made it to the first rest stop, we passed like 4 accidents. People are just too packed together right at the begining of the ride, so we decided to try and find an alternate route, one that wouldn't have so many people on it. I think we have something that works, and we're going to try it again before the event to get everything set in our minds, but I think some variation of this is what we will use.

So we spent a lot of time going "hmmm, where do we need to turn?" and "is this the right road?" or "Are you sure we're supposed to ride over gravel?" Sometimes the answer was yes, and sometimes it was no, but we did eventually find our way south to where the rest stop will be. We got rained on a lot, which was annoying, and I had a couple of little scares, but nothing major. I counted four bunnies on the route, and we got hissed at by several gosling parents too. It was a lot of fun, and I enjoyed myself, even with the rain.
